    Level 1 Coaching Course

Report on MLGFA Level 1 Day 1 by Munster P.R.O. Mick Myers
28 of May ’11 in Kilshannig GAA Club, Co. Cork

In the ultra modern surroundings of the impressive Kilshannig GAA Complex Munster LGFA held their Day 1 of the Level 1 Coaching course.
9 coaches turned up to further their coaching qualifications and to refresh their training ideas. The course was tutored by Caroline Duggan from Dublin, and Mick Myers. The course began with a refresher on the FUNdamentals course. From there it moves to discussing more technical and tactical aspects of the game such as the player pathway development, rules, first aid. Then the practical and enjoyable stuff starts with teambuilding games and using drills taken from different codes such as American football and adapting them to suit our sport. Each coach left with what in no doubt their children would find apt, dreaded homework for the Day 2 involving taking a number of specific training sessions to complete in the logbook.
On a final note I would like to mention the Kilshannig Ladies Gaelic Football members,
Who were holding a fundraising coffee morning and who looked after us extremely well on the day.
