Annual General meeting of Munster Ladies Football Council

The Annual General Meeting of the Munster Council was held in the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow on Sunday 6 December at 3.00 pm.

Attendance

Peggy Kennedy, Noreen O'Gorman Tipperary.  John Hayes, Kevin Greene Clare.  Josephine Higgins Cork.  Kathleen Curran Kerry.  Tom Barrett, Tom Kelleher, Frank O'Driscoll Cork.  Dermot Kelleher, Aubrey Bourke, Jennifer Boyce, Limerick.  Ann Burke Limeric, Hannie Lorgan, Cork, Bridget McGrath, Waterford.

The minutes of last year's AGM were read and their adoption was proposed by John Hayes and seconded by John Kelleher.

The Chairperson welcomed all present especially Tipperary and Limerick.  She wished Tony R8iordan a speedy recovery and thank him for all his help during the year.  She also went on to say that publicity wasn't great, that it would be better to get reports in before and after the matches.  Gate takings were bad and more of an effort should be made to make sure that gate collections were taken at all matches.

She then went on to congratulate Kerry on their 6 in a row, hard luck to Cork in Junior and Under 18 and that Clare did Munster proud in the Under 16.  She also congratulated Ballymac on winning the club title.

She then went on to tell us that the Treasurer had resigned during the year and that she had done her best with the accounts.  She said that there was no record of Clare's affiliation fee.  It was accepted that Clare did affiliate their county and that the cheque had not been cashed so that they were to cancel that cheque and re-write another one.

Secretary's Report 1987

We have come once again to the end of another successful year at Munster Council.  Things ran pretty smoothly in Munster this year despite of the fact that there was no secretary elected to the Council and the resignation of the assistant secretary and Treasurer, James Lafferty during the year.  This would not have been possible but for the co-operation of all counties in providing pitches and referees, sometimes at very short notice.

The winners in Munster were as follows:

Under 16:      Clare
Under 18:      Cork
Junior:         Cork
Senior:         Kerry
Post primary Schools:   Spanish Point, Clare
Club:         Ballymacarbry, Waterford

Munster were once again victorious in the inter-provincial championship even though the attendance of the trials was not all it should have been.

I would like to thank Margaret Lawlor for organising the school's competition and Hannie Lordan for all the work she has put into this Council in the past year.

Signed: Brid Ni Chraith
