Minutes of Munster Council AGM 1992

The Annual General Meeting of Munster Council was held in the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow on Sunday February 2 at 2.00 pm.  
The minutes of the previous meeting were read – proposed by John Power, seconded by Davy Brown.

Those in attendance are as follows:  Michael Ryan Waterford, Sandra Allen, Cork, John O’Brien, Cork, David O’Donoghue, Kerry, John Power, Mary O’Dea and Davy Browne, Clare.  Hannie Lordan Cork, Noreen O’Gorman, Tipperary and President John Hayes, Clare.

Prior to the meeting, the Limerick delegates contacted the Chairman to say that they would not be able to attend due to funeral commitments.  The Chairman opened the meeting by welcoming everybody present.  In his address, he stated how it had been a very good year For Munster all round.  He congratulated Waterford, Kerry and Clare for their great achievements and success during 1991.  He also congratulated Munster in winning the inter-provincial.  He also said that he was very disappointed with the lack of referees in Munster.  He thanked everybody concerned who made pitches available.

The vice-chairman Michael Ryan of Waterford spoke on how delighted he was also with the great success that Munster had during the year.  He said we took all the titles.  He also said that Waterford played all their games before the championship.  He also said that they had run a referee’s course but that they still hadn’t any extra referees after it.

The Secretary Noreen O’Gorman in a very healthy report congratulated all teams who took titles and she also paid tribute to Cahercon Secondary School of Clare who reached the All Ireland final in 1991.  She also paid tribute to all referees and thanked the counties for the use of their pitches.  She ended her report by paying tribute to all her follow officers and said that she was not seeking re-election.

The Treasurer Hannie Lordan also presented the meeting with a very detailed and well balanced writer Treasurer’s Report.  She told the meeting that we were in a good financial position.  She said that the meal for the inter-provincial team was long overdue.  She also said that some outstanding money was owed to referees.  John Hayes thanked and complimented Hannie Lordan on her report.

It then led to the selection of officers for 1992.

After the election of officers, Michael Ryan paid a special tribute to Hannie Lordan for her years as Treasurer.  He said she was the most honest and fairest person involved in ladies football and was very devoted to her position as treasurer.  He also paid tribute to Noreen O’Gorman, the outgoing secretary and thanked her for her 4 years as secretary.  At this point the President Johnny Hayes endorsed what Michael Ryan had said, and said that they were a credit.

The following motion was passed at the AGM – That Munster Council purchase a set of shorts and socks for the inter-provincial team.  He also said that playing 3 inter-provincial games on the one day was madness and it shouldn’t happen again.

It was also said that it was difficult to get sponsorship.

Under 16:
1 round – Kerry v Cork – Limerick v Waterford

Clare v winners Kerry/Cork

Junior:
1 round – Kerry v Limerick – Cork v Tipperary
Semi finals: - Clare v winners Cork/Tipperary
Waterford v winners Kerry/Limerick

Senior: - Kerry v Clare
Waterford bye.

Dates venues and referees to be fixed at our next meeting.

This concluded the business of the meeting.  The next meeting was fixed for March 25 at 8.00 pm (Wednesday night).
