Match Report: Laurel Hill 5-07 v Boherbue, Cork 1-09
PP schools MLGFA Senior D final Laurel Hill 5-07 Boherbue, Cork 1-09 played at Newtownshandrum on Thursday January 27th referee Sean Joy Kerry
This game was controlled by Laurel Hill from the outset but for the first 16 minutes seemed to be shooting themselves in the foot with some crazy shooting in front of the posts. However wing forward Niamh Ryan landed the opening score and was causing the Boherbue defense all sorts of bother and raised the first of her 2 green flags in a 7 minute spell. The Limerick city school led at the break 3-04 to 1-01. The game restarted with Laurel Hill dominating until the Boherbue challenge arrived and here the Laurel Hill defense stood up to the test no one more so than full back Aisling Enright who time and again got in blocks and cleared her lines to safety. In the dying minutes Laurel Hill had the luxury of driving a penalty shot wide. A deserved win for Laurel Hill and the player of the final to Aisling Enright Laurel Hill. Captain Paula Donnelly was presented with the cup by MLGFA President Dan O Mahony. Scorers; Laurel Hill Niamh Ryan 2-02, Maeve Barry 2-01, Sinead McNamara 1-00, Stephanie Carroll 0-03, Triona Bannon 0-01
