St Michael’s played with the wind in the first half and in their first attack after good work by Imer O'Rourke and Nadine Hayes Aoife madden scored a good point. St Michaels defence were playing well and Sinead Lane was to the fore and keeping St Augustines at bay. The wind was proving to be an asset to Michael's but they could not score and only added a point from an Aoife Madden free, Both Fiona Morrissey and Caoimhe McGrath were playing well for Augustine’s in midfield, Michaels’s through Aoife Madden and Nadine Hayes worked their way for a goal chance but Cadhla Mc Grath in goal for Augustine's made a great save, St Michaels were rewarded when a free kick for Aoife Madden deceived the keeper and went all the way to the net. Augustine’s began to come to terms with the wind and Fiona Morrissey scored a point and in their next attack Emer Farrell scored from a free. Both teams were working very hard and with both defences doing very well scores were difficult to come by. Sarah Keohan broke up a Michael's attack and the ball was worked to Emer Farrell who scored a great goal. This score put life into Michael’s and they upped their game and scored a goal through Imer O’Rourke and another great save by Cadhla McGrath denied Michael’s a goal, Augustine’s attacked and this time Nichole Keating in goal for Michael’s denied Emer Farrell a goal with a great save. Michael’s backs were under pressure but were well served by Sinead Lane and Siobhan Donovan, Katie Whyte took a quick free and Mairead Walsh scored a point for Augustine’s. Both defences were again on top at the beginning of the second half and scores were difficult to come by, Emer Farrell had several opportunities but failed to take her chances St Michael’s worked the ball up the field to score a point to take the lead Augustine's missed some more chances and also Nicole Keating was playing excellent in goal however she was beaten by Meagan Dunford which was followed by another goal by Clodagh Ryan. Michael’s refused to give up scored a goal by substitute Kate O Neill to make it an exciting finish however Augustine’s held on and deserved the win. The match was played in very sporting manner by both teams who made Ian O'Brien’s job of refereeing an easy one.
