Jim Kennedy Cup
Who would have taught it would take 38 years for the founder of Ladies Gaelic Football Mr Jim Kennedy from Clonmel Co. Tipperary to have a Cup named after him. That was all rectified on Sunday last 29th Jan when Cork played UL Limerick in the inaugural Jim Kennedy Cup. Jim was there hale and hearty at the ripe young age or 87 to present his own Cup to the winning Cork team. This is a new competition in Munster for Inter Co. teams and University Colleges which will be played for annually. Well done to Munster Council for setting it up. Tipperary Ladies Co Board is delighted to sponsor the first set of medals. Edit Carroll from Galtee Rovers was the only Tipperary player on the U.L team which played in the final. Anthony O Brien Emly Co. secretary Enda Mc Donnell P.R.O. and Olive Mc Donnell Ass Treasure Templemore represented Tipperary at the game. We wish Jim many more years of health and happiness.
