2012 Kennedy Cup

Waterford 4-18
Tralee I.T. 1 -03

This game was played in Ballyduff on a pitch that the players must have found hard going because of
all the rain over the previous days.
Waterford were much quicker in adapting to the conditions and settled into their stride and using
Michelle Ryan as their target with high ball going into the full forward line and Michelle winning and distributing the ball Waterford were able to score at their ease Hannah Landers had their first point and only a great save by Leoine Higgins in the Tralee goal from Linda Wall prevented a Waterford goal. Waterford backs were now on top and Gra Kenneally did all the work for Michelle Ryan to score a point, Waterford were now well on top and despite good work by Tralee backs further scores
could not be prevented and Hannah Landers scored a goal and Michelle McGrath scored another
goal after good work again by the Waterford Half back line. Tralee had a rare attack abut this was cut out by Aoife McGovern who gave to Michelle McGrath who carried the ball from defence to attack where Hannah Landers was waiting to score another points, Waterford were denied another goal by Tralee Keeper Leoine Higgins who with Megan Galvin were defying Waterford. Michelle McGrath covered every blade of grass in Ballyduff and scored 2points along with points from
Patricia Fitzgerald and Michelle Ryan to leave the score at half time 2G 10P to nil in favour of
Waterford.
The second half began as the first finished with Waterford on the attack and despite bringing on
subs did not weaken the team in any way and this was shown by Sinead Ryan who came on for Hannah Landers and scored 4 points Tralee scored a goal and a point through Joanne Kelly sandwiched between points from Michelle McGrath, Michelle Ryan, Trish Kiely, Laura Lavery scored a point for Tralee but Michelle McGrath had the last word with a goal for Waterford to leave the score Waterford 4-18 Tralee 1-03.
